The Mackay School of Earth Science and Engineering Microbeam Laboratory is excited to promote access to the laboratory for STEM and general Nevada K–12 classes as part of both campus and distance learning activities.
Class visits to UNR will include a tour of the SEM laboratory and students will learn how to use the equipment and take part in an exercise to enhance student’s perspectives of Geologic and Material Sciences.
Our aim is to expose students not only in Reno and the surrounding areas, but also in rural areas and on Indian reservations across Nevada to new ideas and possibilities for pursuing an education in STEM. This can be completed on campus and through distance-learning activities.
These in person and virtual experiences will allow students to interact and ask questions rather than just listening.
UNR Professors are encouraged to utilize the Microbeam Laboratory for educational tours, in-class laboratory exercises, and potential research projects that will utilize the capabilities of the instruments and promote collaboration across colleges at UNR.
